Stormy Monday

Nothing like what people are experiencing in Texas right now, but today was a wild and stormy day with strong and gusting wind, torrential rain-showers and occasional brief flashes of sunshine. I drove 80km to Glencoe to see an old friend, and back; en route, photographic opportunities were scarce.

1) Falls on the River Coe

4) Cars head south, out of the storm.

The colours this light generates are stunning. I feel I can smell the wet moss in these pictures. Memories of Scotland and Ireland pop up immediately. Thank you, dear friend.

Thanks to Armando, Francis, Hans, Tom and Akira - Scotland can be so beautiful, even in stormy weather, it often makes landscape photography quite easy!

The River Coe is quite short and runs the whole way through naked rock - it hardly comes in contact with any kind of soil.

Scotland is indeed beautiful: and it's quickly-changing weather and cloud-patterns, with the sun suddenly bursting through to spotlight just a small area, produces scenes like these which David has immortalised in this beautiful series of photographs.

The low-angle of the sun is an advantage in places at higher latitudes; and extended summer-evenings are another major bonus.
