Very nice. Just the camera I have been waiting for for a long time. Her and the D500 seem to be a perfect team!

The D850, in Dx mode, has exactly the same resolution/ pixel pitch as the D500, making the latter redundant for a D850 user.

footage of handling the D850 is trickling out on to youtube from the official demos. Hopefully, we should see more thorough, objective reviews soon.
Solid ISO performance comparisons and tests of battery life and overheating will reveal 2 of the risk zones

MF, I always shoot two cameras for Soccer , Events and birds so I can see selling D3S, D7100, D300s and just using Df, D500 and D850 for Nikons.   I've been very disappointed with the Sony a7rii for events.  AF is no where close to as fast and accurate as my D500 or even the Pen F.   I am a bit disappointed in the weight and do wish it would do 9 fps in Dx mode but it does , on paper, look the very best all-round camera available ( and very flexible  ;) ) .  No price in India yet.

The price for Germany is a hefty 3800€ incl 19% VAT, so it is 3079 Euro without VAT. 3300US$ ist 2800€ also without VAT. So ordering in the USA would save nearly 300€ for people who can deduct VAT. The US price plus import Tax for Germany is 3320€ delivered to my door in Germany.

I ordered a copy of the Nikon D850 and a couple of batteries. I would like to order the Nikon es-2 slide copier, which they mention for the Nikon D850, but I only see the Nikon es-1 slide copier for sale. Anyone know about this? Does the Es-1 work for the D850?

According to my calculations your math is a little bit of. :)
€3799 -/- 19% VAT = €3193 so the difference is even bigger.
Without 21% VAT it's even a little bit cheaper in Holland. ;D

I read somewhere B&H is not allowed by Nikon to send the D850 overseas. :(

Besides the GAS-excitement, I am intrgued by the resolution and even more by the in-camera focus stacking. I bought the Olympus <43 specifically for that function for my watch photography. With this camera I am able to shoot both high-resolution and get a focus stacking function for immediate use. Tempting.Who wants to buy my D810 ;-)

2 initial reviews but nothing substantive on the really novel D850 features, i.e. the focus-stacking

I don't think so: the viewfinder should be less useful for the D850 and DX format.
