The "other" flower in your flower bed might be a cultivar of Spanish Bluebell Hyacinthoides hispanica; or the hybrid between that species and the Common Bluebell.

Has it the same intense scent as the usual bluebell?

I haven't tried, will report tomorrow.

I can't help but thinking there is a rooted disposition for some British to dislike local genes mixing with European ones... enough said.

The desire to preserve and protect species is not particularly sinister - nor is it exclusively British. Hyacinthoides non-scripta itself is protected in parts of France and Belgium.

If you wish to comment on the characteristics of the British (people) maybe you should start a new thread.

It was said tongue in cheek, no need to further discuss this matter.

Thank you Dave and Anthony.
Unfortunately the lamb was positioned differently, it was not possible to get a portrait of it with the nice blue background.
