i had no choice because IR filters are banned here in Japan because you can use it to shoot through clothes
which one will let you do that? please let me know

A Wratten 87-class filter will do. The caveat is that clothes must be wet, thus it'll work on swimwear but not on a street scene.

Tested on my girl friend who agreed to put on a swim suit although she prefers skinny-dipping, Nordic style.

When you say Wratten 87 class filter is it 87a, 87b, or 87c?

Checked the archive and it was Wratten 87. But the others will serve as well.

So that means all IR filters will do nicely. The Wratten 87 cuts of at 720nm if I am not mistaken?

The filter that cuts 720nm and above is Wratten 89B.  87C is denser (around 840nm, IIRC).

The "equivalence" between filter designations (and brands) is very approximate.

The Wratten 89B *should* be the same as Hoya R72, ie. having its 50% point at 720 nm. However, B+W O-92, claimed to be "89B", actually is more like a 695 nm long-pass filter.

Hello.

 I just bought a nikon d80 with 156 shutter count in order to change the internal filter. The camera itself was very cheap -90€- even thou is almost new. The plan is to make the conversion as cheap as possible. So far I´m going to buy a filter "ir enhanced" from lifepixel and install it myself.

   Before I get to it and if you have a better idea, I´m open go suggestions

Project update:

  after breaking down one d80, bought a second one. The flat cables...lets say I´m not very handy with them. The screws wear down rapid so no many tries. After opening and closing and reconnecting everything 3 more times, the second body works sometimes  
   Exposure is ok and it nails autofocus with the 50g 1.4  when it fires 

   Have to take 3-4 shots in rapid succession because at least half of them will be a blank image -pink actually- I may have to open it again but I´m not confident of the results. As of now, this is my first Ir image

The camera is still making happy mistakes. It is a pain to shot with her as She Shoots When She Wants or SSWSW. I still had a blast yesterday. Post processing images in IR is going to be another big challenge as I´m use to very little on my regular shots. This is to show what She does...sometimes
