Grahame, I am a sucker for garden birds (and I regard a dove as one) and like this image a lot. I hope I am not stating the obvious in saying that I would have liked it not cropped (shot) so close at the bottom as the feet and tail included would have enhanced the image greatly.

This looks better Never liked flash for 65 years re read the manual went to almost - power decided it has some possibilities

Hi Grahame, you seem to be able to get close to the birds. I like the pose, framing and light on the last one.
Feather details and illumination come out well.
Focus point and sharpness look better on the initial one.

Very nice I prefer the second shot
Dove is very common here its a good start for birding :)

Here is my today's  dove, its very near so it turn and almost spoke to me, its a crop cause I couldn't get the hole tail

no matter how common a dove is - or any garden bird, they are great especially as they often interact nicely with the homeowner. Which helps for photographing them of course.
