I once owned a 300/2 Nikkor. I still regret that I sold it, but did keep its matching TC-14C though ...

Andy has at least one of these

It's very hard to find examples of its use online. Most articles don't include application samples...

Cool.  Has anyone seen in person a 300mm f/1.4 Ultra-Micro-Nikkor?

No wonder. What's the photographic equivalent of "tennis elbow" ?

Boat Anchor

That 300 isn't pleasant to haul around. You do get bruises.

Very few pictures remain from my 300/2 epoch as all were on film and most of the material is lost.

This is a very early spring morning (March) with fresh snow fall. so dark that even with my F4, it was not trivial to focus the 300/2. This is at f/2 by the way.

I read Jeffrey Friedl's blog. He has one.

There's a couple of photos with him using it and it looks big. Also lots of photos showing the character of the lens.

Thanks for the link JJ.

I am wondering what the real difference is with the 200/2 in terms of bokeh? Smaller DOF?     The 200mm looks more convenient than a 300mm (apart from the size and weight of the 300/2)

300/2 has an entrance pupil similar to a 400/2.8, so has a similar ability to isolate a subject against an out of focus background, but with the shorter focal length.
