Day 9 - part 1

9 - 1 hydrant
9 - 2 around
9 - 3 open
9 - 4 playing big

Húsavík and the whale museum are worth a visit.

More great photos. I like Jökulsá á Fjällum (which, if I read it correctly, means the river from the glacier in the mountains).

Thanks, Sten. Supposedly right - the river runs down from Vatnajökull Glacier, making 3 famous waterfalls on it's way:  Selfoss, Dettifoss, and Hafragilsfoss.
Dettifoss is considered the most powerfull fall in Europe.

Great series, Thomas.  I echo the others with the atmospheric  'Vopnafjörður'  scene.  Must be a joy to visit Island.
Oh, yes, it is. Thanks, John!

:-[ I can´t believe I have missed this thread this long...

To late to comment or pinpoint on many many images I really enjoyed. Thanks for the trip.

The variety is fenomenal and your attention to detail.

Now I have to go to Japan and Iceland!

Haha, I'm not feeling guilty... Thank you, Paco.
It's a marveallous place to go with the typical climate challenges, which imho add to the experience.
Feel free to comment on any picture - one reason for the numbering schema is to identify them easily later on.

I really like the fault line in "10 - 5 watcher at the path"
It's great to be somewhere where the crust of the earth is still evolving (ok, San Andreas not withstanding)

It is, and it does feel strange sometimes. The landscape is quite different as well,- that alone would be worth travelling there.

[edit 2016-11-15]
addendum:
The graphic zig-zag line is not a geological formation, it's a path (like in the title).
Pic 1: Paths quickly get stamped through the thin layer of vegetation and soil.
Pic 2: visible on the right are 2 traces front to back where I think vegetation indicates geological fault lines
