What Nikkor do you want this christmas?
« on: October 17, 2016, 16:15:39 »
1: it has to be within your budget and realistic, so no 6mm f/2.8 Ai-S fisheyes or prototype lenses!
2: something that Nikon has produced, no imaginary lenses.
3: has to be a Nikkor, no off-brands.

I'll start!

35mm f/1.4 Ai-S :o :o :o

Richard, you have limited my XMAS shopping in such a way that I simply can't say...

1. Whatever is within my budget I already have, 10.5, 16, 17-35, 20, 24, 28, 40, 45, 50, 85, 105, 135, 180, 200, and 300mm;
2. Nikon should produce a 400mm PF and I will be the first to buy it;
3. I don't mind off-brands at all as long as they have a Nikon mount, like the Coastal Optics.

Well you kind of killed it when you said "within budget"  ;D ;D
(no lens in SA is within budget these days)

My list is humble: an AF-"P" version of 50/1.8G (or E), or Nikkor 2.4mm/f2.8 (yes, KeyMission 170!).

I'll hope that a generous close relative will read this: Nikkor PC-E 45 or 85mm (or both of course). Since I bought the 24mm, I find it hard to shoot with anything else, however 24mm is not exactly the focal for all situations.

I don't respect all the rules set by the TS, but this is something Nikon can produce:
12mm f/2.0 for DX !

OK, since the floodgates of fantasy have been opened, I will acquire a [non-existant] 16-35/2.8 E, which will serve for 70% of everything I want to shoot.
If the fantasy is shut down, I would like another 14-24/2.8.

I enlist with you on the 16-35 Keith  ;)

And a 200/2 with the size of the 200/4 would be very nice as well, however it is against the law of the physics...

Based on what is currently on the market I will settle for a 20/1.8

Repro-Nikkor 85mm f/1

If I can ever ever ever find a copy that is! And not for $4000 sold by snobby collectors :P
Realistically, they should be priced at around $1500-$2000.

The Repro-Nikkor isn't going to happen, so realistically, an 85mm f/2.8 PC-E. Found a seller already, just have to go get the thing next year when I visit relatives.
