Mark Wallace
« on: October 08, 2016, 18:53:59 »
Mark Wallace (the dude from Adorama & Creative Live) spend 2 weeks + in Cape Town and I spend 5 days with him, making videos for Adorama - so ya - I am a video maker now  ;D ;D ;D  so dont stress - I wont give up my day job just yet -

these two videos was made at my place - one in studio - and one outside on my deck. I did the video by hand (yes I know it's shaky - hence not giving up my day job...)

For those interested - it's the  two most recent videos here - http://www.adorama.com/alc/series/exploring-photography-with-mark-wallace

3 more videos to follow which I shot a lot of the footage - all for Adorama - and that was done at a Game Reserve. I havent seen the edited versions yet... I was interviewed also  - but if I look like a dork - I am NOT sharing the link (and the probability exists!)

At the game reserve - he was mock charged by a Lioness - and the brother nearly had to change pants.

Thank you Armando for the introduction!

Great job Elsa !

He works with a Kodak Instamatic?  ;)

The video camera is actually a Panasonic Lumix - which he claims does an excellent job - and Adorama is very happy with the results of this cheap little thing.

Keep in mind he is on a Bike- and has very little space to carry his whole world with him - including Leica rangefinder, 50mm 135mm, Profoto studio light, video light, tripod, light stand, Go pro, bike gear, clothes and whatever else he needs to sh*t, shave and shampoo. It really isnt half as romantic as it sounds being on the road for 3 years already (although he only started using Bike in Feb this year - before it was trains and planes)

Love the pics Elsa. However, in the third one, isn't it a bit crazy to get that close to a rhino? Aren't they generally bad tempered and fast?

This one is used to people - having nearly died when poachers cut her horn off - she had to be handled a lot - for a long time. Having said that - she is HUGE and can walk right over you. The ranger was just outside the shot though, and could steer her away - which he did when she got too inquisitive. Guests are not usually allowed this close - but this was a special occasion of course) They are not generally bad tempered. Now a Buffalo.... thats an entirely different thing...

Elsa, you are welcome
I was wondering if you were going to mention Mark over here, I'm glad it worked, I had no idea if any of you had plans when I sent messages to you

The model seems to be a lot of fun to shoot with her

I'm not interested in faking the golden hour (in fact, the foliage in the background looks like shot under the daylight!) or avoiding harsh shadows in the studio.

What I want to watch is YOUR INTERVIEW!  PLEASE!   ;D ;D ;D

Armando - I just turned out so well.  I managed to introduce him to connections he was desperate to make - so you can see how we all network  ;)
The model won't be on my list of invites..... She however does know how to work.
