Mongo is not one for baby photos. However, when his newest niece came to visit from interstate, he was pleased to see her and to take some photos for her extended family.
This is Audrey wearing one of Mongo’s old beach sarongs as an impromptu prop. During the short photo session a D4s was used with a older AF Tamron 90mm f2.5 and the current Sigma Art 35mm f1.4.
Image #1 was Tamron @f4.5, 1/125th, ISO400, - 0.3EV using just window light. Perhaps f6.3 would have been better to get the further eye in focus also.
Image #2 was all the same settings except a little further away and directly facing the lens, therefore, both eyes in focus.
These have been posted basically to tell the virtues of this Tamron lens for this and macro work. Picked up virtually unused in its original case for $90. Best money ever spent on a lens. The Sigma images are not posted here but in Mongo’s opinion, it performed superbly also. There is a lot of hype about the latest lenses but some existing older treasures should not be forgotten.
