Title: Audrey
Post by: Mongo on September 08, 2016, 08:54:40
Mongo is not one for baby photos. However, when his newest niece came to visit from interstate, he was pleased to see her and to take some photos for her extended family.

This is Audrey wearing one of Mongo’s old beach sarongs as an impromptu prop. During the short photo session a D4s was used with a older AF Tamron 90mm f2.5 and the current Sigma Art 35mm f1.4.

Image #1 was Tamron @f4.5, 1/125th, ISO400, - 0.3EV using just window light. Perhaps f6.3 would have been better to get the further eye in focus also.

Image #2 was all the same settings except a little further away and directly facing the lens, therefore, both eyes in focus.

These have been posted basically to tell the virtues of this Tamron lens for this and macro work. Picked up virtually unused in its original case for $90. Best money ever spent on a lens. The Sigma images are not posted here but in Mongo’s opinion, it performed superbly also. There is a lot of hype about the latest lenses but some existing older treasures should not be forgotten.

Indeed!  Very nice work Mongo.

My uncle used to sing similar praises for this Tamron lens when used on his Pentax cameras.

Congratulations to Mongo, she is beautiful!

On the picture, surrounded by soft clothes, protected and cared and the colors makes for a very nice and happy baby environmental portrait. Te framing and timing spot on too.

And she is so cute :)

thanks Colin. As far as Mongo pictures in a sarong, luckily, the principles of good taste and the prohibition against obscenity on this site afford you protection against that unspeakable horror !

Almas, you must be as desperate as Colin.......but Mongo will share the popcorn and beer with you (easy on the butter please - heavy on the beer)

Congratulations to Mongo, she is beautiful!
