Awesome boats, really nice shots
Frank, now I'm confused ... what do cars have to do with boats ?
Have you been on a sailing boat ? I have only twice in my life and found it quite enjoyable, to be moved by the wind, no engines
an exhilarating feeling, to be on a fragile structure, that leans sometimes heavily towards the water surface, to see it and feel it ride the wave

but that is me, I like transportation in general, from roller skates, bikes, cars, trains, airplanes, and boats :)

I love many of these boat shots.
The quoted text concerned MFloyds more general question.

Esp I like the sets in #4 and #12.

The interaction in the group shots appeals to me and the pictures
that show the whole boat in relation to water and landscape as
opposed to the shots in which people are shown from behind or
the boat is shown pars pro toto to create a sense of motion.

I do like those pictures of those rare old rigs from the "Léman" ! There is also a race with more modern sailing ships, quite peculiar in design, because of the special winds one can get on such a lake... :-)

As Jacques mentions, we have also a lot of high tech sailing around.  With the EPFL (Federal Polytechnical Institute of Lausanne) and a lot of spin-offs on the shores of the lake ...

Mongo loves the old boats - and there are some classic boats in that lot. You have also presented a great story set to some great images. Thank you

Yachting season on the Geneva Lake. Competition was tough, last Sunday, around the marking buoy ....

I mean I cannot connect to them, relate to them, which is not a rational reaction, but an emotional one. A reaction that cannot be resolved by q&a.

E.g. cars are not my friends but more of an annoyance to my existence, sometimes a necessity to use, because the world is constructed in such a way (which I disregard and are actively working to change).

So: If a car photo wants to receive a comment from me it has to be absolutely smashing phantastic extraordinary (same goes for naked people in photos or fashion). And I am spoiled completely because one of my best friends is a high ranking graphics professional at Ford. So I see the footage of really expensive international car shooters all the time (although I would prefer not to, but he is my friend and likes to show me his work).

Is this Frank guy serious? He does not understand other people pictures whilst nobody understand his blurb and nobody is asking his advise or want to read his advise.
Yo man, do you think anybody is interested in reading your blubbering?
Did you self appoint yourself as master commentator?
Are you serious or on some kind of therapy? Strongly suggest you take a reality check and stop festering this forum.

Great series and loads of beautiful rigs.
Shot number 11 is particularly attractive.

Which gear were you using?

Wonderful series of boat shots. Too bad Frank wants to inject his politics into it.

Thank you guys. Too kind. Picture #11 belongs to a friend, Stephan Adamczyk (I wish it was mine). I believe he used his D4s with the 70-200mm f/2.8 and a TC. Personally, I'm nearly always using my Nikkor 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 because I need both wide angle and telelens, without having to change lenses (water spray). Bodies might change: D5, D4s, or D610.  In most cases these type of pictures are not so demanding in terms of AF, so the D610 might largely suffice.

Some more to follow 😉

Christian, these are beautiful images of beautiful sailing boats!
Of course my favorite boat of all these is Calliope, which I would like to call a "bath-tub" :)
I am sorry I haven't seen this thread before. I have thoroughly enjoyed these images full of emotions, skills, and dedications clearly visible in all the sailors.
