Cres, Croatia 2016
« on: August 07, 2016, 12:22:03 »
Here I am again with my family enjoying the Adriatic seaside.
We are lazy. We are happy. We make a photo or two.
I am fascinated by the wooden boats tied up in the tiny port. Probably inspired by the local artist Solis.

This is the life... envious.
Very serene images, I especially like the third.

At least I am not taking photos of flowers, yet  ;D
Thank you Simone and Elsa, I am glad you like my new obsession with "barkas" as these beautiful wooden boats are locally called.

Barka = barca

The name on either side of the Adriatic is the same :)

Yet another barca from the north east Adriatic where locals speak Italian :)

Two years ago I nearly decided to go on holidays to Losinj, but I had a very young daughter and a wife who is not keen on exclusively seaside holidays.
So we opted for an "easier" solution that would allow seaside (both beach and rocks) plus easy touring with easy to reach places to visit and ended up in Istria at Medulin (Medolino).
It has been a very pleasant holiday, but my dream is still to do a island-hopping holiday, going from Cres to Dubrovnik in a few weeks.

Perfect mindset for a holiday photographer, Jakov :) The boats are perfect examples of how details can make up for a whole scene.

Simone, I am here every year.
For an island, Cres has some many hiking routes  ;)

Børge, thanks! I am relaxed and fixed to barcas for the time being.

Thanks, John!

Nice, and you found a theme to work on while on vacation.
Until Saturday I was actually quite close to you, near Skocjan jama in the south of Slovenia. We had a marvelous time there and near Radovljica the week before. I will report when I am back. Now We are slowly transiting through Italy and will reach southern France by tomorrow evening. Back near Paris on Sunday. Enjoy your vacation!

Thank you Armando, the daylight does matter and the blue waters!

Olivier, I am glad you had a great time in Slovenia. Looking forward to your images!
I have found a theme, but just to keep my mind straight I made a few trademark images of Cres :)

I haven't talked about gear used since I am not really a true gear expert as many here :)
Recently, I have acquired a D750 and I am surprised that we don't have a dedicated thread for this camera. I am contemplating on opening one. It is truly a capable camera that I haven't bought earlier because I already had the Df before it was in production. I fell in love with the camera in Photokina two years ago but could never justify the expense. Why did I choose to buy it now is the real question? I suppose the ergonomics, the extra megapixels, video capability, and of course proper autofocus.
I am doing my best to find some flaws to the D750. The only thing that I realised, and that might be because I am not fully familiar with it just yet is the number of multiple exposure images that you can take. Perhaps somebody can enlighten me. With the Df one can make up to 10 multiple exposure images, but with the D750 only 3!?

Lenses used for these images are: 85/1.4 AF-D, 28/2.0 pre Ai and 300/4.5 AiS. My bag also contains the 45P, 8/3.5 Sigma and 135DC but I believe there are no images in this thread made with these yet.

The series makes me want to go there!

Have you newly got D750?  How does it cope with 45P?
