How to make the Meopta Meostigmat f1.0/50mm work...

The lens barrel has to be shortened first see first pics 1+2 (while doing so, the rear lens group will need to be taken out, later re-inserted again). I then used Rafcamera adapter pieces to mount onto a chinese M65 helicoid (pic 3+4):

On my Panasonic GH4 this then leaves quite some space, so it focuses quite a bit over infinity, which I adjust using the set-screws of the lens mounting adapter ring. Focusing range here is then infinity to some 150mm close-up  ;-)

I recommend using a clamp-on sunshade as there are no front threads.

Here is what I managed with a ROW Rathenow Busch System 120/80. It's actually a horrid petzval lens, in which one has to choose either sharpness with extreme haloing or decent contrast completely unsharp. It is 120mm, aperture should be f1.5 obviously but my camera seems to think it is around f1.3

I got a lot of two General Scientific Superlumo 4.75 inch projection lenses. One had some separation in the back element (cemented) so I decided to experiment with using the rear cell of a Busch projection lens with the front of the GS. I find the results not altogether unpleasing, but certainly unconventional.

This Rodenstock Heligon f1.6 100mm Xray machine lens is a surprisingly fine lens with plenty back focal length...

Actually I guess it is IX--still both are better than any other X-ray lenses I have seen/tried.

My bad, it is XI, not IX. Must be a senior moment...In the meantime, the first images from a Leitz Hektor 150mm f2.5
