As background, I started with a Minolta x-700 back in 1982, the "European camera of the year"--held on to it for many years until it was stolen from my apartment
The oldest Canon slr I've owned is the Canon AE-1, the oldest Nikon was the N2020 (F501). Then I took a mandatory hiatus because the diaper bags, cloth changes, and strollers took priorities, relegating photographic equipment to things like Vectis (which was actually really amazing as mine is still in great shape today even though it was dropped multiple times and ran over by a car once, tread mark just wiped off
), and Coolpix, and Powershot.
Six years ago, I dove back in with the T2i because the p/s cameras didn't do concerts, recitals, and indoor sports too well--surprise surprise
I like the Canon's warmer tone. Now, when I'm ready for another body upgrade, I decided to go with the D7200. I was totally surprised when my kit n2020 lens still works perfectly on the D7200. That led me into looking at older lens, chipping them and on that trail, I ended up here ... typing up this boring narrative
