 :) As background, I started with a Minolta x-700 back in 1982, the "European camera of the year"--held on to it for many years until it was stolen from my apartment :-[  The oldest Canon slr I've owned is the Canon AE-1, the oldest Nikon was the N2020 (F501).  Then I took a mandatory hiatus because the diaper bags, cloth changes, and strollers took priorities, relegating photographic equipment to things like Vectis (which was actually really amazing as mine is still in great shape today even though it was dropped multiple times and ran over by a car once, tread mark just wiped off   :D), and Coolpix, and Powershot. 

Six years ago, I dove back in with the T2i because the p/s cameras didn't do concerts, recitals, and indoor sports too well--surprise surprise  ;) I like the Canon's warmer tone.  Now, when I'm ready for another body upgrade, I decided to go with the D7200.  I was totally surprised when my kit n2020 lens still works perfectly on the D7200.  That led me into looking at older lens, chipping them and on that trail, I ended up here  ... typing up this boring narrative  :D

I have already found out that the Dandelion that I ordered and on its way to me shouldn't have been ordered at all, that I overpaid for my 75-150, does that count as more than I could wish for?? ;D

Some here love equipment more, some editing, some pure photography, some even film (!).

We all share a common interest in honest feedback and learning more about photography technicalities and techniques.

Also very common is an open heart for people who are different ... we try to see them as inspiring ... and often they are.

In my country, meeting the King face to face is not that unusual. When I lived down town Oslo, I encountered him (the old King Olav 5, for Norwegians) many times when he was walking his dog in the woods near his summer residence. You pass  by an elderly gentleman and recognise a familiarity, thus nod in the traditional Norwegian way, and are greeted back likewise.

oh yeah?  here in DC, where I work, I can meet a cardboard cutout of President Obama everyday :D :D

good to know that people are still friendly around the world.  People in Finland didn't seem all that friendly when I was there last year.  could be me I guess but as you can probably tell, I'm a happy go lucky kind of guy so ... whatever :)

You need to understand the Finnish culture. Then you'll discover they are friendly and generous.

I guess the same applies to Norwegians.

Totally believable as I used to think the same of the Germans (cool, aloof) until I worked there for a short stint.  Some of the nicest people that I ever met.

Thank you Thomas :)  Exhausted and cross-eyed because of an unexpected arrival (of lens :) ) so instead of resting, I was running around with the new lens.  Will post what happened tomorrow.  It's almost midnight here and I have to get up at 4:50am :)  I would've been more energetic with better results but ... :)
