I like the noirish mood these pictures evoke, with the colorful artificial light accenting the darkness.

Thanks, Tom.  The mixed lighting on this house was quite inspiring.

Mongo agrees with Tom - the mood created by this combination of lighting and colours is quite a feature on its own.

$1 - the defined lines of colour and geometric shapes together with framing work very well

$2 - Mongo really likes the combination that these two deep colours create against a black BG/surround. Particularly like the fusing of one colour into the other. Framing also very well worked out.

Exposure is spot on on both.

Well seen and produced Akira.

Mongo, glad you like the image and thank you for the comments.

The second image was actually a retry of the one posted in the past here and to FZ.  The image was shot with D7000.  This time I tried it with D750, and its superior high ISO performance and the pliability of its NEF enabled the further experiments of heavier processing.

Interesting pictures.

I am just wondering whether the difference of colours are due to the lights or actual different colours ?

Cheers, Francis.

It might be something of both. It depends on the light source and the chosen shutter speed. If the ss are shorter than the frequency of the light source one might get just one wave length instead of white light. Only the photographer can answer that question. Nice effect Akira.

Francis and Børge, thank you for stopping by and commenting.

The "difference" of  the color is definitely due to the different light sources: incandescent, fluorescent (both seen on the house) and mercury llamps (cast from the right-hand side of the image).  But the color temperature and the hue were heavily tweaked, and the saturation and the vibrancy sliders were set to 100% in CC2015 to enhance the adverse color and the difference of the light sources to make the image more abstract.

Thanks, Børge and Akira for your explanations.

Actually, this is what I thought, but wasn't sure as the difference is quite amazing.

I also think that the incidence of rays and angle of reflection influences colours rendition (hue) too, according the watcher' position ?

That may not be the case.  All the light "rays" were diffused well enough and none are polarized, if I'm not mistaken.

First shot is a beautiful postcard Akira. Not very often we see colour combinations like this. I would have preferred it even more if the tree weren't there, but still love it.

Anirban, thanks for the comment.  Here in Japan, mixed lightings are not very rare, especially in larger cities.  So, it is interesting to tweak the image like this and to see the results.  Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time or an appropriate tool to cut the tree.  :D

Akira, love your tweaks. They work, specially the first one or me. Even thou I tend to minimalism, all the parts work in harmony in the first. Second works as well but it looks tilted to my eye -weird, because it shouldn´t, there is no reason :) -

Paco, glad you like them.  I would have to confess that it was tricky to "level" the second image, because the angle of the stairs, the camera angle and the stand point to include all the elements I wanted didn't coincide easily.   :o
