Keith, this is quite peculiar and interesting.  Sort of lenticular clouds?

The clouds were constantly changing.  This lenticular-appearing phase was just one moment along the way.  They look like they were being acted upon by strong winds at cloud altitude.  Winds were present but mild on the ground.

I love clouds. So naturally, I really like this thread. :)
My picture was taken some time ago at the harbour of Scheveningen, Netherlands.
I hope you like it!

Thanks, Keith, for the details of the situation.  So, you captured a really nice moment!

Susanne, I like the play between the soft clouds up top and the hard, sharp shapes at the bottom.  The grayness brings back memories of moody B&W printed on photogravure.

Thank you, Keith and Lars! The sky did look quite spectacular that day. What surprises me is that the sea looks relatively calm in the picture, as it wasn't so calm in reality...

I am less fond of them when flying directly into them...

Two different looks of the clouds in today's morning (Dec. 16th).

Mike, Susanne, and Lars have created a sub-genre of clouds with ominous intent.
