Two very old ones from my first year with a DSLR or any SLR for that matter.

This trip was pretty much the start of me going abroad to photograph, before that is was digicams only or even without a camera.

The view from one of my favourite camp locations while canoeing in Rogen

Blaue Stunde

Wow, many great captures.
Jan Anne, now I realize that die Blaue Stunde (l'Heure Bleue) is not only a wonderful fragrance, it is also a magic image.

Here is my contribution: high altitude winds. it is an infrared shot (D70, 720nm filter) taken in the volcano area in France's central mountain chain.

Akira, what a structure in the sky! And the gradient from left to right is so interesting to follow. It flows, which reinforces the feeling that these are actually ripples on water...

Many thanks for the compliment but can easily return the compliment.

I was looking at your image, grabbed a bowl of chips to go with the beer and was still looking at your image when I finished the bowl :)

So many things to look at and appreciate, from breaking the "horizon on one third" rule to make the clouds look more impressive, the waviness of the horizon continued in the cloud patterns, the mountain on the horizon which also has its counterparts in the clouds, the gradual transition from bright to dark, the fence / tree line walking the eye into the image, etc, etc.

All in all I am truly impressed and really enjoyed taking it all in.
Cheers,
Jan Anne

Olivier, thanks for your comment.  In recent years, I see a lot of peculiar clouds, and this one was one of more peculiar ones.  I thought it beautiful but at the same time a bit ominous, considering that the clouds visualize the turbulence of the air.

So many dramatic images!

My favorite is a bit the reverse -- a calm, relaxing image along a slow-moving river.
