1981 is a long time ago but what a familiar scene, you also saw these 'views' a lot in Belgium.

Either 1978 or 1979, fully laden Mini Cooper S at Ramsgate Hoverport waiting for loading to cross the channel and then onwards to Switzerland. Copy of  an Ektachrome transparency.
