Martin Barre in Munich 2015
« on: November 22, 2015, 21:11:30 »
Like in the last three years I went to see Martin Barre playing at the nightclub of Hotel Bayerischer Hof.

It was his 50th stage anniversary and he was not holding back.

This time he came with female support, Becca Langsford. and Alex Hart (Alex also sings backing vocals on "Back to Steel"):

Martin with Becca Langsford:

Alan Thomson and the ladies:

As usual the drummer was well hidden and the light was absymal.

Dan Crisp (while he was mostly up front the stage light usually missed him):

Jamming 2:

A happy Martin:

The whole band:

Still way too many images but at a certain point I can't decide what to nuke anymore.

I mostly used the D750, but the D700 was also used. Mostly primes (85/1.8, 50/1.8 and a Sigma 24/1.8) but also a Tarmon 28-75/2.8.
Still not sure about the highlight protect mode of the D750. Seems to be more erratic than just using spot metering on this rather dim stage.

This was the first concert I completely processed with Capture One.

Nice collection AFX.

Were there any standout pieces from the night?

Thanks guys,

the official wording is, that Tull is on an extended vacation.
But from what I read between the lines Ian and Martin had a falling out or so.

So since a few years now Martin tours with his band. As this was his 50th stage anniversary, you wonder why he did not retire yet. But when you hear him play, it becomes immediately clear, that he just can't stop. The music drives him. If you look at the band line-up, he is significantly older than the rest of the gang.
This concert was the last one before they left for the US...

This tour also introduced a new CD - "Back to Steel". Right now the only song from the concert that I remember especially is "Bad Man" from this CD.
In general, he sounds much more metallic and closer to classic hard rock than Tull ever was.

I don't have the new CD yet, as I will get it together with the DVD from last years concert which was supposed to be released on that evening, but got held up in GEMA hassles. They guys who did that DVD use my images for their booklet ;-)

cheers
