A friend of mine asked me If  I live in a space ship when he show this photo ;D
I think you had the same thought
But this is me that changed the natural orientation and gave this Astro-space-view photo
Anyway we are photographers and sometimes or most of the times we give our own personality to our view

I am lucky with my 300pf - thanks Elias- it’s a good copy although I am pixel peer man and I show some double icon when I use it around 1/640-1/800 sec sometimes , in lower or higher speeds is excellent and works surprisingly good with Nikon 2x lll, 1,7x and kenko 1.4x (better one stop down for Kenko )

By the way I am searching for the 1.4Χ ΙΙΙ if you have one sitting pm me  8)

I had the chance to use this combination with good light and for me is the best way to 600mm in optical quality, weight and bulk for F mount
Thank you

I was reminded of Nasos' shot when I came across this.

The standard of several photographers in this NG group would surely make it worth them entering this competition?

So true - but isn't this what photography is about - expression.

Nice shot by the way - the reoreintation makes it for me.

Easier to shoot than Leonardo ...

replaced ... several times .. not looking as on my screen ... getting about close enough

The sun is full of spots these days, some of them occasionally erupting. This is from today trough a Baader Astrosolar filter film with 300PF+TC-20EIII on D500 handheld. I also tried it stacked with TC14E, but it seemed better without the second TC. 100% crop - warm color added to the neutral rendition of the Astrosolar filter. The structure is that of the sun's surface and not noise.

Very nice shot and explanatory work Øivind :)
I Assume that you have a modified 1.4e that can be fitted to 20e III ?
I have exactly the same set up and can’t fit  :(

Thanks Nasos, I routinely remove the tab that prevents mounting older lenses on the converters when I get them. For stacking, the TC-14E is mounted to the body and the TC-20EIII mounted on the lens. The latter has an opening big enough for the protruding optics of the TC-14E.

Thank you Øivind
I can do it with my Kenko 1.4x which is good but I noticed that 1.4e is a tad better, anyway I am searching for a 1.4x III as I think it will be a slightly better than 1.4e, what do you think?

Speaking of stacked TCs I show this https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1746369/0
and shocked :o but an 600/4 lens is super lens on any brand

I never had a chance to test the TC-14E III against my TC-14E (first version) - always wanted to. The TC-14E III is quite pricey even on the used market. I have seen users reporting variable experiences. One thing to consider is that older non-E lenses will not have aperture support with the new version so it would become a more specialized purchase.

I wonder if more will come onto the used market as people migrate to "Z" mount lenses.
The reviews of the "Z" TCs sound mouthwatering, so there's hope yet Nasos & Øivind

It might take a while, but I will keep looking. BTW those sunspots caused some nice aurora, that extended down to lower latitudes. To my joy I also got some nice colors here up north last night: https://nikongear.net/revival/index.php?topic=10381.0

A follow-up on the sunspot to the upper left above, captured April 3, now in central view. The righthand large spot in the previous capture is now at the lower right edge. This time the stacked TC-14E+TC-20E III worked best (for one frame), so the resolution is likely limited by seeing and perhaps also improved by tripod mounting and electronic front curtain shutter, 100% crop:

Unfortunately Alaska will evade the path of that eclipse, but there should lots of opportunities further south in the US.

During a continued sunspot project, the cloud covers do not always cooperate as hoped for but can lead to beneficial results. The framing of this capture today was also not what I tried for in the hurry of that moment but I like it better than other frames. Tripod mounted, Baader Astrosolar filter film, uncropped D500 with 300PF and stacked TC-14E+TC-20E III, f/16 (reported f/11), contrast detect AF on edge of the sun seems to work best now.
