Thank you Birna, Bent, Nasos, Paco, and Akira. I am planning on buying a solar filter since the Mercury eclipse in Scotland...
Akira, I love your thin Moon.

Thank you, Jakov.  You were lucky to see the super moon.  It has been cloudy all night here in Tokyo.  :(

I bought my Kenko ND100000 10x10cm filter to shoot the Venus In Transit in 2012.  A couple of months prior to that, the total eclipse of the sun was observed, but VIT didn't seem to attract as much interest as the total eclipse.  So, Kenko offered the super-dense ND as outlet for half of its original retail price.  :)

Here's my humble image of the "black drop" phenomenon which turned out to be caused by the lower optical quality.  :D

That image brings fond memories of one of the best threads in the old form, Akira. The Bendik Hofseth "Colours" CD that I shot the beginning and end of the Venus transit though is still playable with only minor scratches... Since then I bought a Baader Astrosolar film OD 5.0 that I have used many times, mounted permanently into a filter ring, https://nikongear.net/revival/index.php?topic=3435.30

Sorry for my belated response.  These were truly amazing captures, and I remember enjoying them.  Thank you for the reminder!

Talking about the "transit", this would be a timely and interesting read:

I haven't checked that out.  I think I can see just a couple of sunspot-like specks at the bottom of the disc.

I prefer the intimacy of your Version 2 of this image;  nice crater detail and colouration.

Thx Hugh. Have definitely to take some time to get more proficient in lunar / astro photography  :)
