Moon shot on first second of 50th anniversary of Moon landing

2019-07-20 0:00

This period of immense heat and dry air was good for taking photos of the moon even in light-polluted areas.
Fine details are preserved.

Peek-a-boo!

Yesterday evening, the Moon was playing peek-a-boo across a thin layer of opalescent clouds. Had a place in the clouds theme, too

These are pretty straight images but
a) they were the first I've taken with the 300mm PF plus TC14
b) they were the compensation for an otherwise crappy Friday 13th :(

At night after the storm.

Hi, Akira!

Similar clouds on the night between 13 and 14 october (in my time zone, already full 14 october in yours)

I had to recur to stacking to keep both the details in the moon itself and in the clouds...

EDIT: Nikon D500, AFS-VRII 70-200mm/2.8 + TC14eII (@280 mm)

Akira:

I love the colours and atmospherics in your moon shot.

I have been wondering how you fared during that horrendous typhoon?
The BBC published photographs showing the wide-spread flooding and terrible devastation over vast areas of Japan.

Ann, thank you for kind words and concern.

The typhoon that attacked Japan in September brought lots of gusts that got lots of trees, power poles and houses down.

On the other hand, the latest typhoon named Hagibis brouught, as you observed, insane amount of rain and many rivers along its course overflooded their watershed areas.  The damage is so significant that many public facilities are still in trouble.

Fortunately, my place is safe and we didn't have any damages neither in September or this time.

Akira, #470 is great.  I love the composition.

Mxbianco, #471 is quite dramatic.  Well done PP.
