As latter years septagenerian, carry weight increasingly becomes an issue, so I've downsized from a D700 to a d750 and that's my principal body for domestic travel and shooting (there have been sporadic NAS attacks in between [a D80, D200, D300 and D610, all now long gone]), where I'll usually have the benefit of my car as transport and I can easily accomodate a tripod and a small handful of nikkors. For out-of-country travel, where I have generally avoided personal driving and, instead, accomodated myself and budget to rail and air transport, a few years ago I moved to Panasonic M43 gear, at present the GX7 with the "old"14-45 kit lens and the 15mm f/1.7 Summicron, the second of which, by the way, I brought as my sole body and lens on a three-week Paris and Ireland at this time last year, and never missed a longer lens or a lens assortment.
When I purchased my D750, I did make the choice between the Df and the 750, and the 750 won at the margin based on budget and, more narrowly on ergonomics. I must write, however, that if the Df had offered a "conventional" old school ground glass screen, I would made that choice instead. As a really old timer and former Nikon Ftn, Nikon S3 and Leica Ms 2 and 3 user who never used an autofocus lens until I picked up my first digital camera, I'd be really happy with a digital Nikon F, but I know that there'd not be a commercial market for the few of us that would enjoy and use such a gem, with the hybrid benefit of Lightroom post processing.
