As usual, my local squirrel is a willing test subject when new equipment arrives.   ;)

Are you sure his willingness to pose results from the excitement of the new gear rather than the food he gets :) :)

The Nikkor 500mm f/5.6 is a very nice lens, though. With or without squirrels.

Thanks, no human-sourced feeding occurred. :)  the willingness was all about the nice cached cones he was peeling. (Feeding wildlife beyond what results from bird feeding is illegal in Alaska.)
While the 500PF for sure is a nice lens, I have had it for quite a wile now, so the test was not specific to that lens.  ;)

Since Daniel is probably still on vacation in Croatia, this little impression from southern Germany will suffice.

This looks rather Switzerland...

Night visitor

Just three months ago, this lonely farmer got an unexpected visitor. Rumours have it he slept peacefully through the night, to wake up with a container ship missing his bedroom by a few metres :)

The story gained world-wide attention and lots of TV crews flocked to the site. Now the whip has been dragged off the shore and only the news images remain. When we visited the site yesterday, only the ongoing erosion damage of the exposed shoreline was evident.
