In England, a bodge is a poorly made repair. It can be temporary but is not necessarily so. A bodger is one who often makes permanent, poor repairs.
Except it was not always so. Once upon a time, a bodger was a skilled craftsman who made the turned legs of stools and suchlike. Nobody knows the origin of the name. This gentleman (the aptly names Peter Wood) is a volunteer who demonstrates these old-school skills. All of his tools are manual.
