Lille, this morning.
Zf, Voigtländer 58/1.4 (on FTZ) @7.1, 1/500s, 100 ISO. Cropped.
This lens is as brilliant as ever, esp. shooting against the light. Only the bokeh can be quite nervous, a consequence of overcorrected spherical aberration.

Ambient temperatures have crept above zero for the first time in many weeks. So instead of freezing snow we have ice-cold rain and strong winds. Not sure the change is for the better, though.

Nikon Zf with the über-wide Laowa 9mm f/5.6. This is not an easy lens to utilise on a full-frame camera.

from the latest motorcycle trip
Wonderful views and no one was stopping but found a suitable spot and waved the riders behind to keep going

Brussels, today 22/11. Judy Blue Eyes.

This is my first shot with the Nokton 50/1.0 on the Zf. Wide open, which you may have guessed. That lens is pretty sharp wide open but above all very contrasty, reminding the Noct. The blacks are quite black already, when in focus of course. At 1.4, sharpness increases significantly and color saturation rises a bit. Rendering reminds Summilux R 50/1.4. Vignetting is strong: "clipped corners" (see also 50/1.2 AIS), so cropping to 4:3 would be a reasonable way to handle it uniformly. Low barrel distortion. Low focus breathing. Focus plane is not flat, the corners are bent towards the rear (much less at short focusing distances, apparently). CA not worth mentioning, LoCA is there but not outrageous, same with coma as far as I could check (at daytime).
Physically it is a massive lens with reasonable dimensions (62mm filters), and shorter than most Z lenses. No plastic parts. The focus ring action is perfect. The aperture ring is in the front, à la Zuiko, and provides 1/3 stop clicks. Metal shade was fortunately provided in the box (beware of not losing it: expensive replacement).

The lens piqued my interest so I'm curious to learn more about it. I've seen photos and the design externally follows that of my Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 65mm f/2, which is a superb performer. I wouldn't expect the same level of performance from any f/1 lens of course.

Well, it was bound to happen. I disagree  ;D  I love the files from the Z6, detailed, flexible in post and very good size/quality ratio. For me, of course. Now much better with af than at launch. Can be silent. Z mount. What's not to like?

I agree with you, Paco.

Nice lens, Airy.  I am curious too.  Keep us posted
