Yesterday I purchased a Z30 with the Nikkor 28/2-.8 SE Z (retro design). The reason for the 28 SE was to have an alternative wide lens for IR, the usefulness of which was confirmed, and for the Z30? A host for the Rodenstocks of course. I'm getting tired of cleaning the scratched sensor of my Z9, SZ6, etc. when experimenting with the adaptations of these 50/0.75 speed monsters. A cheap Z30 would ease my mind and for a bargain price, not putting too much pressure on my wallet as well :)

My Mk.2 version of the Rodenstock adapter fits even the Z30 -- the fit is pretty tight though as the new version of the adapter is seated close to the camera body.  Using the 1:1 format (16x16mm) on the Z30 makes for an image without any dark or very smeared corners. Infinity focus is feasible too.

The Z30 appears mighty to be able to handle such invention. Always looking forward for the images you create with your tinkering investigations

Nice work Birna.

I wonder if you should add an NC controlled lathe and a mill-drill to your shopping list and a 3-D printer to keep them company?  ;D

I reckon that you would really love such weaponry when you are making your adapters and the like.

Nothing compares to the "excitement" of a hand-held Dremel :)

Whilst the Z30 indeed works well with the Rodenstock, it is a consumer camera and has 1/4000 sec fastest shutter speed. Meaning it is virtually impossible to use the combination in broad daylight !!! The lowest ISO setting is 100 and that is just too much. Even the Z9 can max out its 1/32000 sec top speed unless I drop the ISO setting to Low 2 meaning roughly ISO 32 equivalent.

Sadly my hands are now too unsteady to do justice to my Dremels.  I have certainly seen Dremels attached to the cross slides of lathes with great success for fine drilling and grinding.

Not so much users and/or love for the versatile Z 24-200mm here on NG it seems. I like this lens, for my photography it's very much ok.

It becomes too slow too quickly for my needs and tastes. However, I am not you. If it suits you then enjoy it!

This is my son's bedroom. I tried but failed to coax a decent pose out of him. My daughter had been watching, fascinated with the equipment, and wanted a turn. She nailed it.

Nikon Z6, 35mm f/1.8S, two off-camera speedlights.

Nice one Bent and good to see a D500 still in play

Ruth keeps an angel hanging above our dining table to remind there are immaterial sides to life. I use it for my Z30 with the Rodenstock TV-Heligon 50mm f/0.75. Each to their own, I guess.

This time I used the entire (DX) frame of the Z30. Early morning light thus I just managed to keep exposure without exceeding the max. 1/4000 speed of the Z30 :) I now have added filter threads to the lens so as to use a polariser or neutral filter in daylight to keep exposures "safe". Weird.

Oh yeah, our relative existence is but a well rehearsed projection ;D

The d850 is everything it promised. Here an image from yesterday with the 58mm 1.4g. What a wonderful machine...

Thank you. I was surprised my self to see the starburst. Maybe the reason is the f6.3
The D500 is my wildlife and sports camera, but my Z6 see more use for anything else.
