I've regressed to my beginnings in photography...at least lens wise. Now I have the four Nikkor lenses I started out with when I began using Nikons in the early '70s. Well, almost. I did substitute the 105mm for the 85mm since I prefer that focal length. I love the way these old Nikkors render more than any of the AF models. Of course, I have ancient eyes and manually focusing is sometimes a bit difficult. I do manage pretty well with the green dot focus confirmation's help.
Do you know how hard it is to take a sharp picture of this little mutt with a manual focus lens? She is a hyperactive terrier who never learned to walk--she runs. She took this pose and I wanted to photograph her but she only held it for about a half second. I called her back and proceeded to say "Sit!" and "Stay!" and "Wait!" about a dozen times until she finally held the pose long enough for me to focus and click. Done at ƒ/2.8 with the pre-AI Nikkor 24mm ƒ/2.8 on a D810. ISO of 5000.
"Good dog!"
