Just what is that red device in your attic, I'm guessing a water hammer preventer?
It is a part of the heating unit on gas, an expansion tank.

Thank you Akira and Bruno...the dedicated low-tech reader is comprised of a pair of binoculars and a marine chart. ;D With these you can decode that this light is "Mersey Bluff".
