The grub of the leaf mining moth Phyllocnitis labyrinthella makes a long track across an aspen leaf. The track never crosses itself and eventually will end at the leaf border, where the little grub enters pupation. The very edge is bent over at the pupation site and "glued" in position by silky threads.

The dark central string in the mining track is a frass line the appearance of which is diagnostic for this species. 'Frass' being the very scientific term for 'insect poop', by the way.

Laowa 100nmm f/2.8 on Z6, at 1.5X magnification. 24 frames stacked in Zerene.

Birna, your images of intricate natural patterns are always a pleasure to watch. And the extra info is appreciated.

Very nice. For some reason it reminds me of a series I've been watching, Irma Vep, in a spooky, silent film sort of way.

Despite the turbulence in the country, farmer protests over planned landgrab, the elderly, virtually robbed of their pensions, show complacency.
