In my country, we are rapidly closing in on the crucial point where all new cars sold must be non-fossil. The deadline is set to 2025. This means our petrol ('gas') stations are drawing to a close, or at least completely change their operations, in our life time.
I was reminded of the ongoing and rapidly accelerating evolution last night when Ruth and I pulled in to a filling station to join the queue for charging of electric cars. Lots of chargers present, but all were occupied. The pumping area was deserted.
