A week ago arrived in Le Mans, to cover the 24 hours of Le Mans Endurance Race. The race will start today (saturday) at 4 PM and finishes coming Sunday. Probably the most famous endurance race on the world.

Here, the Le Mans Prototype 2, #20, of the Danish racing team, High Class Racing (one of the teams I'm covering, passing the famous "Dunlop Bridge":

Less exciting than a car race perhaps, but having field assistents to sift through my Eelgrass Zostera spp. samples was a welcome twist. Nice girls as well.

I grabbed a shot of the action with Z fc and my W-Nikkor 3.5cm f/1.8 lens, which is really sharp and must have been a killer item in its heydays. That is 60+ years ago!!

(Photo Ninja lacks a profile for Z fc, thus colours aren't exact).

Cool shot, Fons. What a 50mm does well.

The thing one may wish for in a 50 is a closer mfd, but in case of this massive bull that's no complaint, besides there is small water-filled ditch, between the beast and the photographer, thanks Keith.

A fly/bee (?) taken with a Rodagon 1:5,6 f=210 mm on a Z7 II with an old Novoflex bellows with a pistol grip for focusing. 1/250s, f/16, ISO 1250.

Thanks a lot, Akira. In-camera double exposure is a nice feature to explore. This idea came to me in the spur of a moment. No time to think or reconsider, which is often the best :)

The Common Reed Phragmites australis is amongst the longest-living organisms. A population clone can be thousands of years old. Although it flowers and apparently sets seeds in a most profuse manner, the seed vitality is very low and most colonies rely on vegetative means of reproduction and dispersal.

Apart from the subterranean robust rhizomes, the Reed has a literal fast-running surprise in store: the stolons or runners which are above-ground and extend until the growing point(s) make contact with a suitable substrate. Which in the depicted situation below, means the runner already had grown 12 (! twelve) meters across a solid rock face and still hadn't reached the sea :) However, Nature will persist. Eventually it will get there.

Shot with my Z fc and the old W-Nikkor 3.5cm f/1.8 rangefinder lens.
