BTW, I passed a few good deals on Contax Zeiss 135 f1.8 after reading some "average" ratings from the Internet. At the end, there was a deal that was too good to pass. After taking a few shot, I can tell that the lens is rather stellar!

With no scientific testing, the IQ seems to be superior to Nikon 105mm f2.5 AIS sample that I have. The only other one I would compare to is another Contax Zeiss, the 100mm f2.8 Makro-Planar. Again, I used the word sample here as I believe people are not wrong when telling about their 105s.

Leitz summarit 50mm f/1.5 (on the Z6).

This lens comes from the fifties.

But outperformed at f/2 by the legendary Nikon AI 50mm f/2...

Today I got a tair3-phs 300mm 4.5 as a part of a  Zenit PhotoSniper kit. As I have a m42-to-Z adapter I when straight to try it. It works! It is like christmas 

   The kit includes a Zenit camera, a set of filters, some parts to load film and a 58mm f2 that I´ll try as soon as possible.

I just hope that people don't get the wrong idea and think that you are using a firearm if they see you using the PhotoSniper - something that has put me off getting one.

The result looks really good, also nice shot! Can you please share pictures of the gear itself if you have some? I happened to have Zenit E that I bought in Moscow back in 1990. It was a faulty one, though. USSR products were not reliable at that time.

LOL... I would never bring it close to the airport fence for sure. Security and police vehicles are circling around

Some images of the gear. I apologize for the phone pics but it should give you a good idea:

 1. photo sniper. The box is used but going strong
 2. Everything in neatly arranged and makes me feel like James Bond
 3. Mounted and ready. Here you can see the filter set (there are 5 but some are stubborn and will need some patience to unscrew), the 58mm f2 also part of the set and the Pisco m42-to-z adapter
  4.  Mounted on the Z6. It does not allow as is to add the gun-like grip
  5.  Detail of the charging trigger
  6.  Detail of the engraving and focusing wheel. The lens shade is screw-on rubber with metal end ring. I like it.

  Once the m42-to-z adapter is added, the both 58 and 300mm lens can focus a little beyond infinity and of course, to closest distance. Then, the adapters helicoids acts as a built-in extension ring. Very useful.

With the 300mm 4.5. All images @f5.6

   The lens is difficult and awkward to focus but it can give very detail images. I haven´t change the support becuse the place were the pistol is attached gives a quasi arca-swiss and that suffice for some support now. Will see.
   It is heavy and feels very robust.
   The aid of the evf makes everything way easier and gives confidence over what you are going to get.
   Today was excepcionally overcast. Low contrast is in big part due to the light quality and not the lens

   1. Minimum focus distance. Handhold.
  2. Static enough birds
  3. 100% crop
   4. @5.6 is sharp all the way to the corners
   5. bokeh at  close distance
 6. Portrait pano, 4 images. Meet JM, has been a fisherman for most of his life and was a gracious host today.

This oldie does the job. Sharpness is there.
Perhaps it might be softer wide open, but it's not a problem these times with software tools...

There is a couple of offers for the same in good condition, but 300 CAD is a bit pricey for something that would end up as a display piece for me.

  This kit I have received as a gift from an older photographer in La Línea. I was a happy surprise that I was able to use it at all, let alone to get an image as the portrait of the fisherman. I´m very happy with it!
