Couple days ago I received two used lenses (AFS Nikkor 35mm f/1.4G and AF VR-Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D) with both the exterior and the glass looking like "new" from a bloke in Norway. Price total paid less than 540 Euro. I have to say that the auto focus on the 35mm and the VR function on the 80-400 do not function. That's OK for me, but what you in the NikonGear community think? I must admit that nearly all my photos taken are with a tripod, and I'm also "a manual focusing person". The picture seen here is with the 80-400mm, aperture 16 and on a tripod.
One picture taken is far better than none!

Congrats on your acquisitions, i have my 35mm f/1.4g still and think its a fine lens to use maybe not up to the latest sharpness standards.

The 35/1.4 G has a very pleasant overall rendition for a modern lens with a smooth gradual transition from focused objects to the background. I should probably use it more often, but then that can be said of my other lenses in my cupboards :)  Its AF is slow, but consistent so I had no issues in that regard.

The 80-400 never took my fancy, although its VR did work well enough.

If you aren't going away for vacation &  trips, I might see you in about 3 weeks time in your home town, by the way.
