Completed my analog kit with a 45mm pancake lens to enjoy photolife in May
-
I had that version of the 45/2.8P. It was so small that I lost it -- in my car -- within a few weeks. I complained to Nikon reps the mothership was to blame for making such tiny lenses which went AWOL by design so to speak. I wanted a new one but said no way I'm going to pay full price. They were so surprised that they knocked 50% off the price and handed the lens over. The new sample is with me still.
By the way, I never found the first copy again despite a thorough cleaning-up of the car when it was put up for sale :( Nice FM2 as well.

Recycling the Alaskan way - sledding his catch after a session of dumpster diving at the transfer station that also filled up the rest of his truck. Permafrost affected power poles and "drunken trees" provide the backdrop. (Sorry for the quality, heavy crop of a phone capture - I tried catching up on him on my bicycle for a closer shot - he was fully aware of his sledding and was going slowly - but I was caught at the next traffic light.)

This was just an experiment in how well I could manually focus an ƒ/0.95 lens on a camera that is difficult for me to use in manual focus mode. It worked okay I decided, given my poor vision and the razor thin DOF. I think I shot 7 frames with this one being the best.

Thanks for the enthusiastic comments, Akira, Paco, Bruno, John, and Fons.
The capture was extremely lucky. I heard the plane but never had it in my sight, likely because I was peeking over the camera with my eclipse glasses so everything else was black, and the camera screen blacks out during exposures. I routinely release the shutter for repeated frames with a 5 sec release delay during solar captures so there was no chance of intentional timing here. But the thought occurred to me that it would have been neat if it had gotten into the frame. When reviewing the frames I was at first wondering what that disturbing blob in my frame was and almost deleted it! Then I was initially a bit sorry I did not quite capture the whole tail, but if I had just been a few millisecond later I would likely have missed the warm exhaust/contrail bending the light of the sun.
The equipment was tripod mounted 300PF protected by Baader Astrosolar ND 5.0 film with stacked TC-14E and TC-20E III on my D500.
