. . . and then some more, and then lots more, and today it's still raining.
!) and 2) - the River Dochart, and 3) the flood-plain of Loch Tay and our local river system; normally pretty dry.
-
The weather was bad, but the pictures are very fine, as usual.
Your pictures of Scotland makes one want to travel and visit it. :)
-
Nice 'douche' we like some here as well temps up to the mid twenties rain expected to fall this Sunday, good golly.
-
First two shots: You have communicated the speed and power of the flowing water very well.
-
Thank you, Bent, Fons and Keith - your comments are much appreciated.
-
I remember standing and shooting on the rocks in §2 at the Killin meet-up a coupe of years ago.
I would not want to try to stand there while you took the photo!
-
Dave, as i have stated a lot of times before, i truly enjoy your images!
-
David, Mongo loves the captured animation and natural colour of the waters in #1 and 2.
#3 - love the crisp, defining but natural light/colour in the image
-
+1 from me also.
These images make me think of NZ's South Island's west coast scenery = homesick. :)

very nice coverage, calm with great graphics, your style. Love the light and colors. We could use some rain here. The Rhine ferry does not go because the water level is too low for what? two months?
-
Now that's a flood. The mood is nicely captured - I can almost hear the roar of the river.
The drama of #1 and #2 is quite a contrast with the serenity of #3.
-
Wonderful dynamic images of the wild river, and stark contrast to the wetland, get documentary landscape work ;)
-
Thanks to everyone for your generous comments.
It is still raining heavily and the forecast is for even more rain. It is too heavy at the moment to be out-of-doors with a camera, but I may try later - it's becoming wilder more dramatic.
Erik, Mikes, Frank, Jakov, Anthony and me - we were all participants in the Scotland Week (May 2016) and make up 1/3 of the number who took part. I wouldn't mind organising another such week if there was any enthusiasm for it, and Hugh, Bent, Fons, Mongo and Keith - you'd get a second chance at Paradise Scotland. 8) ;D
-
Sure,,, when it stops raining ;D ;D ;D 8)
-
I'd love to be back. Preferably without rain, but perhaps that's asking too much ....
Scotland is a lovely country and we enjoyed the 2016 visit to the Hebrides and mainland Scotland immensely.

Count me in!
-
I would like to go, with or without rain, but preferably without ;)
-
Fascinating images, Dave! Love the contrast between the roaring water of #1/2 and the still water of #3.
Hope you stay safe, though.
-
Great series.
-
Great series David. Quit a difference from the river when we visit Scotland. :)
-
I was going to get a "patch" made up but never did.
-
The river looked a lot less angry when I was there. I remember sitting on a rock in the middle of the river. listening to a lone piper standing on another rock in front of me. It was pretty surreal and a memory I will never forget.
Cheers
-
That must have been some rainy days :-)
#1 and #2 are fascinating captures - the shutter speed captured movement as well as detail(?) without going soft .. or is it simply due to the amount of action in the water ..
#3 - a beautiful landscape and interesting how nature changed the (normally dry) scenery. Not a place to put a tent on rainy days like this.
-
Nice to hear from you, Bez, but -
. . . I remember sitting on a rock in the middle of the river. listening to a lone piper standing on another rock in front of me . . .
did you forget your medication again? ;) ;D
Thanks for the memory! Thanks also to Mike, Bent, Akira, Jon, Chris, Desaparecida (I was wondering where you had got to), Birna and Lars. Nothing pleases me more than getting favourable comments from my fellow-photographers.
Lars - successful shutter speeds were 1/3 to 1/6 second and an amazing amount of detail was preserved - I was both surprised and delighted. Of course the speed of the water was also a big factor in how the shots turned out - it was very fast.
-

You were unwell, I remember, and missed half of the week, which was without a single drop of rain. I admit, that is not a common experience in Scotland; but it isn't all that rare either. I can only recommend a return visit.

--I can only recommend a return visit.
High on my to-do list
-
Those shots deliver a lot of power.

David, Are you saying this is not normal ...I thought you must just sit on a rock in the river and the ginger piper appears? kind of like the Irish leprechaun.
Lucky for me I was with a group of photographers so it will have been well documented :)
-
Count me in, too!
-
I would love to say "count me in", but i'd need to have an idea of the dates. I'd love to go though, so i'm very interested!
And by the way, nice pictures Dave.
-
Thanks, Paco and Hans.

even when it rains.

now everybody remembering the river, I looked at my pics and can say, yes, I remember it as well,
but Davids pics are much better, so I have to come back and try it again
In case we find paths, where I do not sink half into mud, I am in.

Can I just direct anyone who might join us in Scotland, to the thread "Could there be another Scottish spring?" in FUTURE NG EVENTS.
A list of probable participants has been started there - get your names on the list, Erik, Lars, Thomas, Bent . . . .
-
We had one sunny day but now the weather is grey, overcast; however this gives great saturation without the complication of hard shadows.
Can I just remind anyone who wants to join our Scotland 2 Week, to get their name on the list. Scotland is much busier than even 2-3 years ago, and we will have to move on accommodation quite soon. PM or email me, or go to the thread in Future NG Events and Location Reveries - "Could there be another Scottish spring?"

These latest posts carry truly pleasant atmosphere. Thank you for sharing, Dave!
Unfortunately I won't be able to join, but wish you all the participants to have great time!
-
Thanks, Akira. The autumn colours are very beautiful this year.
