Thank you Børge - yes - she inherited it from her father - who has one "affected" eye.
Her sight is fine fortunately

Good to know she is not affected from this, I have never seen this before! My oldest son has huge pupils although they are both round.

Anyway very nice shot, very straight on,,, of a cute special girl

Thanks Erik. I have not seen it before either (except in the dad)
You will notice she is wearing hearing aids as well - as she is deaf. But talks the hind legg of several donkeys.

You have children??? oh my - I thought you were 21 and I didn't think you were old enough to have kids :)

Gorgeous child.  The surprised/interested expression is lovely and very well captured.  I would remove the liquid from the chin and maybe the cheek.

This is an interesting example of how different viewers see different things in a photograph.  Most people will just see a beautiful child, but the combination of coloboma plus deafness plus an affected father rings alarm bells.  So to me this is a sad image, of a beautiful child with a doubtful future.

Typical case of coloboma of the iris
Can be congenital or trauma driven. In this case, both eyes and symmetrical, looks like congenital
The child should be referenced to an ophthalmologist

Pedro it is congenital. The parents are well aware as the father has one affected eye as well.

Good, sorry for being so direct... should be my medical side talking

And, nice picture indeed  :) (two light sources, right?)

Pedro = no need to apologize - the medical side is also close to my heart so I tend to be outspoken too

Her eyes are quite unusual and some find it disturbing. Besides medical concerns (which isnt the case here) my concern would be how cruel people might be to her because of her unusual eyes. Unfortunately that is a reality.

I used two long strip boxes (purely because I am too lazy to change softboxes in studio

As you mention the light, not really the 'norm' set up,,,

oh its not the light that is so much not norm - its the bloody kid running around the studio and me following which means everything is upside.
I understand why some animals eat their young :)
but ya - I use strip boxes for most things if I can
