Color, composition, timing, this image is exploding with goodness :)

Excellent image Armando! The bird's expression is quite comical! Perfecf title too. :D
-
That is brilliant! Boobies are such expressive birds.
-
Wonderful. It's so good it must be a studio shot - elaborate set, back projection screen, stuffed birds - but it's still wonderful. ;) ;) ;D
-
Excellent! :)
-
Lovely and funny!

Cheers everyone ! Thanks for the comments
I had the 20mm lens, held the camera at near ground level AF-C auto area shot without looking through the viewfinder (wish I had a tiltable screen) and hope for a few good images, I was as close as I could while checking if the birds steel felt "comfortable", they get quite anxious since I have to crouch down fairly close to them , while I pretended to look away - not directly to the birds - they did not like the shutter noise and started complaining loudly after a couple of shots

Wow, nice one Armando!!!
-
Mongo loves this Armando. The very early or very late light also gives this added character.
-
I echo all the others above, simply a wonderful capture in all regards.

I remember thinking that I wouldn't have use for the tilt screen on my D750 and initially regarded it as a liability. Boy was I wrong! Now I wish it tilted side as well.
Your lack of a tilt screen did not prohibit you from getting a great composition here though! Surprised they let you get so close, being shot at 20mm. I'm guessing they aren't particularly skittish birds?
-
Very nice!
-
That's awesome! To me, it looks almost like a screengrab from a Pixar movie.
-
Very special lighting. Is that copper colored?
Super high definition birds. How did you manage to get so close to them?
What colors and definition. Wow.

:)
5*

What a lovely shot!
Contrary to the title, you seem to have assimilated successfully into the world of these pretty birds.
Which 20mm lens did you use? AF-D 20/2.8?
-
Thank you for all the comments from everyone
Tristin, certainly not skittish, you can get quite close , guess that's why they are called boobie birds ? Taking off is quite an effort, and landing they are not that graceful either. But they are fantastic swimmers, they dive and catch fish, a fantastic sight I have not yet been able to capture.
Akira, I used a 20mm f1.8 AFS, the front of the lens was probably about 30cms from the closest bird beak
Frank, sun was setting down and I used a manual white balance to keep the very warm tones, plus some PP that increased the saturation, contrast, and sharpness

Oh, yes, I forgot about that one! :o

Very funny and nicely framed! ;)
Nice rendering and show how well the 20mm AFS can throw out the back ground!
-
Armand...Spectacular shot! WOW! :)
-
truly beautiful!

Love the shot. What an expression and timing! Made me smile. :)
