Add me to the positive feedback. It was a great show, full of energy, with an excellent bass and 2nd guitar. He keeps his sound and voice. He may be Old but not faded away :)

Thanks, Ann.The above photo was taken from a helicopter.
The pilot took us to the next glacier, called Berendon Glacier.
He landed on a ledge slightly above the glacier, and this one looks to be in much better shape, but we’re also higher up the mountain.
I did ask about the glacier melting, and the pilot confirmed it has been shrinking.
This area does get a lot of snow every year, which helps, but it’s still not enough to stop the receding.
There is an abandoned copper mine between both glaciers. It did produce a large amount of copper, but weather made it very difficult to operate until an avalanche caused the mine to close. The pilot mentioned efforts to reopen it, but it has been a few years with very little progress.
There is a viewpoint above the Salmon Glacier that can be reached via a road from Hyder, AK, but it was still closed due to snow. I was there on June 1.
This photo is the Berendon Glacier.
PS: When we landed it was sunny and zero wind, a light jacket was sufficient to be comfortable, I was wearing my riding boots which kept me dry as each step sank deep into the snow.

To show I'm not always making "strange" images, here is my standard version of the 'eternity and beyond' picture posted a couple of days ago, then in IR. This visible-light version is by the veteran Zoom-Nikkor 50-300mm f/4.5 Nikkor ED on my Z9. I usually have that lens floating around in the trunk of my car, for the odd non-planned shot. It delivers fine imagery even with the Z9.
By the way, I personally still prefer the IR version of the scene. But that's me in a nutshell. 'Red' is my colour.

Well captured Daniel.
The hedgehog is an introduced an introduced species to New Zealand, but thankfully not here in Australia (the Aussies got foxes instead!).
Although known as ground dwellers, night vision cameras in NZ have seen hedgehogs climb into birds nests and eat the eggs - including the eggs of native bird species in decline. So not quite the harmless critter that many people suppose that they are. Have also been suspected as a vector for carrying TB into dairy herds.

For each human being, there are 60 "billions" (6 * 1010) nematodes (!!!). Some are big, most are small, and many just microscopic in size, of the latter some thrive inside the root galls produced by the elusive representatives of the fungal phylum Entorrhizomycota. I studied spore development in the gall of the very rare Entorrhiza scirpicola and simply had to "snap" a microphotograph of one of these nematodes engorging itself on teliospores of the E. scirpicola. This specimen was very very small, about 150 micrometre in length.
Microscope, 100X/1.25 Oil objective. Three spores of E. scirpicola and some remnants of the fungal hyphae.

Aegopodium Podagraria is edible and quite good actually. Harvest when it has 5 leaves and cook it like spinach.
BTW, you cannot win against it. It was a stapple of vegetable gardens back in Middle Ages but was banned because of its enthusiastic and unstoppable spreading. I eat it, in order to at least enjoy something from it.
Thinking of it, its flowering is not bad either.

Just a proof of concept: the legendary Cooke Speed Panchro works with my Z fc. This is a battered 1 inch f/2 lens from late 1942/early 1943, set in a tiny barrel, and although functional it badly needs internal cleaning. However, it has to do for now. I made an ad-hoc focusing mount for it, which allows infinity focus, but really needs improvement. Additional parts are on their way so the matter should be better resolved later this summer.
The Speed Panchro is quite sharp, but the internal dirt makes it ever so slightly hazy and bright objects tend to have colour fringes or double contours. All adds to the charm of a really old lens. It's even many years older than me!! The barrel is roughly finished, no wonder as the text 'WAR FINISH' is engraved. I think it might have been intended for aerial use in a gun target recording system? The lens obviously has seen a lot of use (even abuse).
For testing, Ruth's tomato plants had to be substituted for enemy fighter air planes of WW II. They move more slowly.

Likely they spend their entire (and short) life cycle inside the root galls. They may be hatched from eggs suspended in the soil pore water.
Nematodes are just plentiful everywhere. I always find some when I make a microscope slide from roots.

If they are very intelligent, the ones in the photo are a native breed from here that is very resistant to heat, called the Murciano-Granadina goat.

On the hottest day so far this year (34oC in a non-existing shade as sun is up nearly 20 hours per day :( ), I find myself sifting and sorting smelly samples of aquatic plants. There are two species of Elodea entangled here, together with a raft of smaller species, and my task now is to sort each to their own bin. Good grief. I look forward to an ice-cold beer later this night, if the fridge survives the high-temperature ordeal.

The curious mining pattern on a Sagittaria sagittifolia Arrowhead leaf reminded me of the album title 'I took up the runes" :)
The miner is a Diptera fly from the genus Hydrellia, but without the adult insect available no specific determination seems possible. Sagittaria is an unusual host for this genus.

These Seals are great!
I love it that one's first impression is that the seals are made from clay until you think that they are real seals striking real-life attitudes.
Or are they?
-
Thank you, Ann. They were waking up from an afternoon nap at low tide, stretching in their unique seal way, but when asleep, they could indeed have been made of clay.

I managed to stave off the malicious attacks to NG
How did you do that?
-
By reducing the attack surface and shutting down services. However, we might need to take NG off-line once in a while. Plus rebooting our server, which I did 3 times last night.
-
Thanks a lot Birna!

Thanks Birna! Curious to know what kind of of attack it was.
Most attackers were using basic brute-force exploit requests aiming at account take-overs at site level. Others attacked our forum software directly, by trying to inject malicious payload via attachments.
A lot of different IPs launched attacks, but as the error sequences generated tended to be similar, probably some base scripts were put in action. Perhaps a concerted effort by a hacker group?
In the not unlikely event NG is again targetted in malicious manner, I'll take the site down immediately. However, since even I am only human and net-based dangers lurk 24/7, there will probably be cracks in the first-line defense. We'll do our best to keep the ship afloat, however.

By coincidence, today the morning post brought me the part I was missing in order to complete the transition of a war-time
1942 1943 model Cooke Speed Panchro 1" f/2 to Z mount. All with keeping the lens focusable to infinity. Near limit is around 20cm. Image coverage suffices for DX, if some vignetting is tolerated. Thanks Paul H. for the lens that now finally found a home.
The lens is minute, has a peculiar way of setting aperture from the front using an outer rotating collar, and lacks any sign of coating. The finish is rough due to the war-time situation and priority of limited resources. To drive home the point, the engraving states "WAR FINISH". The lens might have been used on a fighter plane to record combat hits (?).
I snapped a picture of it with Ultra-Micro-Nikkor 28mm f/1.8 on my V1.
