Sorry for the problem with no image or poor image with original post.  For some reason the color space changed, and the image looked horrible.   



This female pileated was looking down at her mate having a disagreement with an intruding male.  Taken last evening. 

D850. 600VR. f/5, 1/1250s ISO. 2500

This isn't the pileated that I posted earlier.  May be its mate however!  They are indeed spooky birds.  The last time I had a chance with them was >10 years ago, and I live in the middle of the woods!

Great photo! I like woodpeckers. I hear them from time to time where I live, like this morning, but rarely see them.
