I have no doubt Nikon will present a stunning tool with this Z9.
My question is if it will keep up with the competition in the AF department.

Gimme that big battery.  I liked only having to change the battery once a month with my former D3 cameras.

I agree, considering that Sony and Canon would be well ahead of Nikon in this department.  The D5/6 style body should be advantageous in terms of the heat dissipation, though.

I hear you, Keith.  Even when I used smaller D7000 or D750, I was never in need of buying a second battery.

Looks leaner than either D5 or D6, probably because the Z mount is wider, and proportions are altered.

My "Donald Tr... eh, Duck" size comparison with the Z7.
I used the diametre of the shutter button to adjust size to "close enough".

The compactness of an F6? Swell.

If it has the in-camera sound clip recording like the high-end D2/3/x/s etc., I'm all in.

Although they say final looks might be different, on the Z9-alleged photo I can see dedicated ISO and BKT buttons, and the usual flash cable and 10-pin cable connections, portrait mode dials and shooting button. Still no info on top ISO and pixel count, I'll assume twin memory card slots, exposure times up to 900 secs, and maybe the orientable rear screen...

BTW, practically same size as a Z7+extra grip (which is -alas- lacking the portrait mode buttons)

*The appearance of the camera may differ from the photo shown above.

 ;D

I like it ;) The angle of the shutter button assembly looks similar to the DSLR's, very nice! Also I hope it has the illuminated rear buttons like the D850

Look at the markings around the shutter…there’s a bulb  :)

You can always count on the flash mount to be a standard size for comparisons.

There is a match wrt the hot shoe as well (within reasonable margins).

Looks very much like D5/6.

So, looks like this years Olympic games will definitely be on then!
