Space, swords, rock

Another take on this monument in Stavanger.
The three swords are up to ca. 9m tall and were installed to commemorate the great viking battle of Hafrsfjord.

Majestic and surreal at the same time.  A creative presentation of this unique monument.  I remember seeing the monument in Birna's old images shot in IR.

The Sword monument was put up for the 1111th year celebration of unification of Norway. This is a nice capture, Sten.

Akira, yes I've done this subject a few times myself. Always refreshing to see another take. Next time I drop by Sten, I probably will try again.

Must say super picture, very nice atmosphere.
When allowed to travel this might be a place to visit. Have not been that southern on the west coast before.

I like composition and lighting.

This clear night gives to the image a timeless feeling.

I'm tempted to add a few of my own "Sword" images, but fear to hijack the thread unless Sten gives it a go.

My image archive shows I have been visiting the 'Sword' place for making photos on at least three occasions, the last being with Andrea in 2014. I visited the Jæren region last time in 2019, but concentrated on my aquatic macrophytes back then. If C-19 restrictions permit, I plan to go there this early summer.

Anyone: please share images of this monument.

OK, I'll end here.... not my intention to flood the thread :)

However, these contributions serve to remind of the ancient truth that every visit to a scenery provides new opportunities.

Several of these are interesting but Birna's cold, threatening image is the stand-out.

Fortunately for the rest of the known world, the Vikings were unable to wield 3m-long swords.
