Wow, the AIS 50/1.2 is tiny in comparison :o

It's even bigger than the Canon RF 50/1.2 - about the same diameter, slightly heaver but significantly longer.

The 50/1.2 Ai-s is indeed tiny compared with big brother. It is also feather light at 359 g v 1090 g for the 50 s.

The two questions are:
1- How sharper is the 50 s WO
2- Colour rendition v 50 Ais

Here is my 50 Ai-s which is a breeze using on the Z7 with Focus Peeking under your pinky on FN2.

The size actually far outdid my estimations of how big it will be . . . a 50mm at the size/weight of a 24-70/2.8?  No thanks, the 105/1.4 will outperform it for dedicated portraiture and the 50/1.2S is too big for a walk-around for me.  My wait for an AF replacement to the 50/1.2 ai-s continues.  Oh well, at least modern EVFs have made MF easier than ever.  I'm sure the optical performance will be excellent, but that is nothing of note nowadays.  I hope the next trend balances modern optical excellence with size.  All I personally want for a 50/1.2 (besides AF) over the ai-s is improved contrast in challenging lighting and reduced field curvature.
