Printing in Capture One versus Lightroom
« on: August 16, 2020, 04:44:34 »
After several years with Lightroom I am trying Capture One. Things work differently, fair enough. However, I have just tried making prints with Capture One and they come out much darker than I see on the screen. Lightroom is fine. What am I missing?

Both C1P and LR are vert poor at printing and PS is the worse.

Always use a DTP for printing for Pro work such as QuarqX or InDesign. The printing engine is more advanced,

The issue is two folds:
1- The printer driver
2- The color model/system

Without going into a lengthy explanation.  You need to address the following:

1- What is the file model? RGb sRGB ProPhoto CMYK....etc
2- What is the file format? RAW NEF TIFF JPEG......etc
3- What is the ICC Profile used in C1P
4- Is the Color Profile set to Managed by Printer in C1P
5- Is Color Management On in C1P

Thank you, Ethan! Point 4 was the issue. With that set and the printer driver using the profile for my paper, the prints now appear as they should. All is once again well with my world.
