it is extremely warm  in that spot ... loads of sun. Plus the tomatoes are in a wind protected part...

This is indeed lovely!  The color is pleasant, too!

The fields of Tilburg used to be full with Oats. That inspired an artist to make a tree with oat florets

I've begun investigating possible Duckweed localities in my  district. This in preparation for a full-scale botanical study later this summer.

On my way to a promising site today (which turned out to be not only promising, but exciting as far as Duckweeds go), I took time to make a photo of one of the larger ancient burial mounds of which there are quite a number in this region. This is from early Iron Age and around 2.500 years old. Infrared with the 25mm CV f/4 Skopar on the NEX-5N monochrome. There must have been a lot of temptations to raze the mound and till it for agriculture over the millennia since it was created. However, it is still unmarked by the time passages and today serves as a reminder not to forget our cultural past.

Male Ruby-throated Hummingbird this morning soon after dawn. By simply turning his head, this little bird allows his brilliant gorget to catch the light, in hopes of attracting his mate.
