Z series lenses - size comparison

For those interested I put together this comparison to illustrate the relative sizes of the present and upcoming lenses.
It's interesting that the monster Noct will get a slightly slower AF capable sibling that is almost the same size.
Edit: Corrected image so aspect ratio (width/length) is close to actual.

Sadly, I saw this coming.  I would love to see a spiritual successor to the 50/1.2 ai-s with AF, a bulky hyper-corrected 50/1.2 will not be it.  I have dreamt for years of such a thing coming, and with this 50/1.2, that dream is almost certainly put off for another decade or two.  Oh well.

Double Gauss plus wide converter seems to be the new normal in normal/wide lens design.  More correction possible.... but also more size and mass.

Yes, that should be one of the biggest reasons.

Great idea  makes me think of the Sigma Art series for the DSLR's they are also huge and long.
Interesting the 105mm and 28mm both seem to be of 'normal size' would make a great kit with a fast 50mm

Well of course the 105 is a macro, and if I recall correctly from the roadmap, the 28 is a pancake/compact.  They don't have the f/1.4+ demanded for contemporary hyper-corrected lenses.
