This time, using the Voigtländer 40/2 and its pretty creamy bokeh - perhaps a bit less magical than the Nikkor 50/1.4 SC bokeh, but quite enjoyable.

The "subtle pinks" required a better camera profile in LR than the standard Adobe one. I did not change anything else.

Aperture was f/4, not f/2. What the photo does not reveal is that the inflorescence is rather small, and had to be shot near minimum focusing distance with the close-up lens on. In that case, f/2 will get nearly everything blurry. The purpose however was to "simulate" a flower bouquet, requiring sharpness on at least a few summits. By experience, f/4 offers a good balance between "confused" backgrounds and sharp subjects on close-ups (around 1:5 reproduction ratio).

This is rather a macro shot than proxi shot, hence the inevitable dilemma DOF/enlargement ratio.

At f/4, the background is not bad at all. I get something similar with my Zeiss 35mm f/2 when it's set at f/4 too (but without any close up ring between the lens and body or additional lens (bonnette)..

Not sure I could get a 1:4 ratio with the Zeiss 35/2 though. From memory, the Zeiss allows up to 1:6. I have not made any systematic comparison here, certainly worth a try (very different designs and rendering under "normal" conditions).

BTW the Voigtländer has rounded blades and a very circular aperture at most settings, which partly explains the results. A very well engineered and manufactured lens, for 200€...
