One of my two resident Wood Pigeons, seconds before there were two of them perched on the fence!
Z6 + Z Nikkor s 85mm @ 1/25 f5.6 ISO110, heavy crop and some big adjustments.

I would have opted for wider aperture :
# To get more light and thus a faster speed;
# Isolate the subject from the background.

In addition, you get the best resolution of a lens when you stop down 2 stops which would be f/2.8 for your 85mm.
So, I think you could blur more the brick whole, which is a little disturbing.

That said, your subject looks sharp, and the IBIS function probably helped a lot ! ;)
I guess you are happy with your 85mm ? :)

Thanks Francis. I have four Nikkor Z lenses see below.
And I’m really liking them, especially the 24-70mm f4 a bit of a cracker!

Nice shot Mike.

(Now Mike, if you trained Dave, he could catch the pigeons and he and you could share them for lunch.  Apparently they are very good eating - or is my suggestion not quite PC?  ;D )

The only Woodpeckers I’ve seen in my garden are Greater Spotted Woodpeckers.

Dave is proving very resistant to doing as he’s told, so the training is not going well!
