Black Rapid or OpTech Camera Strap
« on: October 01, 2019, 08:25:59 »
Does anyone use a Black Rapid or OpTech Camera Strap or something like these for lugging a body and long lens around on walks?

Black Rapid, I have a harness so I have 2 cameras in what fells like a backpack.
Works well, have used single strap for many years without problems.

I have the OpTech,I find it very comfortable even with a heavy camera/lens combo, like D3/80-200.  I particularly like the ability to remove the main strap for hand holding/carrying but if I got another I would get the noose ends instead of the slide buckle a-la same kind as the Nikon straps, because they are fiddly to take off/refit.  I don't like straps on my camera when it's on the tripod or even worse, the astro mount, due to them getting in the way and flapping about.

Thanks for the replies all, the OEM Nikon strap is going to end up doing me permanent damage to my left shoulder.

I use both with satisfaction (which Mick Jagger cant get). The Black Rapid for heavier telephoto lenses (300mm PF, 500mm PF, 300mm 2.8G VR II) and the OpTeck strap for light loads ie Df (soon Z6) with MF lenses.

Frank, Did you add the 2nd loop connectors at each camera lug, or did the strap come with 2 loops per camera side?  I like the extra security of the double loops.

I've used Black Rapid for several years.
It works well for me, on both a walk around zoom or a 300mm f4.
Originally with the D300 and now the D500.
